I thought I’d give a little more information on the famous, or should be, inventor of the Rubik’s Cube. Let’s start off where most things begin. He was born July 13th, 1944. And so begins the life of an important inventor that would shape parts of the world with his magical cube.
Without sugar-coating it, Erno Rubik had the inspiration to create a cube from history and other puzzles. Like the Chinese historical Tangram consisting of 5 triangles, a parallelogram, and a square. There are other various puzzles similar to The Tangram like the Pentomino, but nothing can inspire someone like the power of mother nature. Erno Rubik got his inspiration from watching a stream.
It is said, inside the stream was a rock that had been withered and eroded to resemble what the central mechanism of a Rubik’s Cube looks like today. I guess that was all he needed. He created the Rubik’s Cube!
Erno Rubik built the Rubik’s Cube as a challenging mind puzzle. Maybe too challenging? Well, to Erno, trying was everything. He tried to solve the cube for a whole month, with barely any luck. Even he thought it may be impossible. But, lo and behold, a month passes and the Cube returned to its original state. Done! Accomplished! Completed! Over-Come/Taken! You get the point. Complete Solution! How To Solve The Rubik’s Cube, by Erno Rubik.
Just a few more!
Erno Rubik also created the pocket cube, a smaller form that was a 2×2x2. Much easier to solve than the 3×3x3 cube. So, the amazing Hungarian is in my opinion an amazing inventor that shaped much of the 80’s World Toys and Mind’s. Who knew a toy could be so powerful? But then again, what isn’t?
