Welcome to the first step to solving the Rubik’s Cube. I will make this as short and painless as possible, in fact, you will only need to memorize four easy formulas! Make sure you have the notation right, here. Then, begin:
The first step is to get the cross. A cross is the four white edges. Edges have to stickers. So, you want to get a white cross on the top side. But there is a catch. Each edge has to line up with the side is corresponds to. Let me explain with the picture.
Everything in grey is stuff you don’t need to know about. But see how the green matches up with the green and the the red with the red. That is the first and hardest step.
